R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyous times, loving
  moments, and meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the
  family and friends of the Honorable Jean Edmond Hosey of La Grange,
  who passed away on April 16, 2007, at the age of 86; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Waco, Mr. Hosey was born on September 12,
  1920; he graduated from Baylor University in 1941 and attended
  Georgetown Law School in Washington, D.C., for one year before
  joining the U.S. Navy, in which branch he served as an officer
  during World War II; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Hosey graduated from The University of Texas
  School of Law in 1948; he practiced law in Galveston for 32 years
  and represented Galveston County in the Texas House of
  Representatives for two terms, from 1955 to 1959; in addition, he
  served on the commission to rewrite the city charter of Galveston
  and was an active member of the Rotary Club; and
         WHEREAS, Following his retirement in 1980, Mr. Hosey and his
  wife, Grace, moved to La Grange; the couple traveled extensively
  and were ardent bridge players; while living in Galveston, Mr.
  Hosey was also a keen hunter and fisherman; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was warmly devoted to his many
  friends, and he took great pride in his family and all their
  accomplishments; and
         WHEREAS, Jean Hosey lived a caring and purposeful life, and
  those fortunate enough to have shared in his love and friendship
  will miss him deeply; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jean Edmond Hosey and
  extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife of
  63 years, Grace Wooley Hosey; to his two children, Helen Leahy and
  her husband, James, and Phillip Hosey and his wife, Phyllis; to his
  four grandchildren, Thomas Hosey and his wife, Joy, Denise
  Parcelluzzi and her husband, Keith, Dr. Michael Leahy and his wife,
  Jennifer, and Corey Marrs and her husband, Joe; to his brother, Dr.
  A. B. Hosey and his life partner, Judd Whitman; to his six
  great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of former
  State Representative Jean Edmond Hosey.
