R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Teaching is a profession that requires character, |
|
commitment, and passion, and Janie Harris of Baytown demonstrated |
|
these qualities in abundance throughout her remarkable 37-year |
|
career; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, Ms. Harris |
|
earned her degree from Sam Houston State University and returned to |
|
her home in Baytown to begin teaching; and |
|
WHEREAS, She dedicated 23 years to the students of James |
|
Bowie Elementary School, and her notable efforts earned her |
|
recognition as that institution's 2006 Teacher of the Year, as well |
|
as a 2006 Teaching Excellence Award; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Harris also supervised and trained a number of |
|
new teachers through the years, and her work as an educator, role |
|
model, and mentor continues to resonate in the lives of countless |
|
Texans; and |
|
WHEREAS, Janie Harris has exemplified the highest ideals of |
|
her profession over the course of her service, fostering a |
|
supportive and stimulating educational environment while working |
|
to equip students with a sound academic foundation on which to |
|
build; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Janie Harris for her outstanding career in |
|
education and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued |
|
happiness; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Harris as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
