R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever cherish their
  memories of Patricia Ann Best of Houston, who passed away on May 1,
  2007, at the age of 51; and
         WHEREAS, Born in Pennsylvania on August 14, 1955, to Alfred
  and Catherine Bachert, the former Patricia Bachert married Bruce
  Best in 1980, and together they lovingly raised two children,
  Lauren and Garrett; a devoted mother, Ms. Best worked to ensure
  that her children had every opportunity to reach their full
  potential; and
         WHEREAS, In her leisure time, Ms. Best was an active member of
  Kinsman Lutheran Church, and she participated in the Thursday
  Morning Women's Bible Study Group; a skilled tennis player, she had
  a fiercely competitive spirit, and in 1995 she and her team won the
  Atlanta Lawn Tennis Association City Championship; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Best dedicated much of her time and talents to
  raising money to fight breast cancer; she participated in the Susan
  G. Komen Race for the Cure and was a member of the Pink Honor Roll as
  one of the top 100 individual fund-raisers in 2004 and one of the
  top 25 fund-raisers in the past two years; and
         WHEREAS, Although her life ended far too soon, those who were
  privileged to share in the love and friendship of Patricia Best will
  remember her strength, generosity, and positive spirit, and she
  will forever occupy a treasured place in their hearts; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Patricia Ann Best and
  offer condolences to the members of her family: to her husband of 27
  years, Bruce G. Best; to her children, Lauren and Garrett Best; to
  her father, Alfred Bachert; to her siblings, Kathleen Stephen,
  Linda Bachert, Alfred Bachert, Jr., and his wife, Christin, John
  Bachert, and James Bachert and his wife, Cindy; to her in-laws,
  George Best, Sandra and Anthony Baran, and Gary and Barbara Best;
  and to her other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Patricia
  Best.
