R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The family and friends of U.S. Army Private First |
|
Class Joseph Graham Harris of Sugar Land suffered an immeasurable |
|
loss with the death of this beloved young man on May 3, 2007, at the |
|
age of 19; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 508th Parachute |
|
Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division |
|
out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Private Harris was killed while |
|
serving his country at Forward Operating Base Warrior in Gazni |
|
Province, Afghanistan; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born May 26, 1987, in Magnolia, Arkansas, Joseph |
|
Harris was raised in Sugar Land; he was a student at Churchill High |
|
School in San Antonio before graduating from high school in |
|
Houston; he then attended Wharton County Junior College until he |
|
joined the army in August 2006; he was deployed to Afghanistan in |
|
February 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, This talented and energetic young man enjoyed sports |
|
and music, and he is remembered by all who knew him for his lively |
|
sense of humor and quick wit; embodying the highest ideals of the |
|
United States armed forces, he was proud to serve his country, and |
|
he leaves behind a legacy to treasure for those who held him dear; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of U.S. Army Private |
|
First Class Joseph Graham Harris and extend deepest sympathy to his |
|
family and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of U.S. Army |
|
Private First Class Joseph Graham Harris. |
