R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times may
  comfort the family and friends of Cecil Gene Shaw of Riesel, who
  passed away on May 2, 2007, at the age of 75; and
         WHEREAS, Born to Ernest and Viola Shaw on February 1, 1932,
  Mr. Shaw attended school in Marlin and Allen Academy in Bryan,
  where he played football; he married the love of his life, Dorothy
  LaVonne Kay, on July 15, 1952, and the pair shared a 54-year
  marriage that was blessed with three children as well as 11
  grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A longtime resident of the Riesel community,
  Mr. Shaw was a cattle rancher for most of his life, and he also
  worked at the Owens Illinois glass plant for 33 years; he was a
  valued member of Old Time Baptist Church, a 32nd-degree Mason, and a
  former president of the Riesel Masonic Lodge #835, and he enjoyed
  fishing and spending time with his grandchildren in his leisure
  time; and
         WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Cecil Shaw will
  miss his outgoing personality, his kindness, and his generous and
  caring nature, but he will always be remembered with great
  admiration and affection; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Cecil Gene Shaw and
  extend sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, LaVonne
  Shaw; to his children, Donnie Shaw and his wife, Margaret, Kathy
  Posey and her husband, Mike, and Nancy Garon and her husband,
  Michael; to his 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and to
  his other relatives and friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cecil Gene
  Shaw.
