R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Richardson Independent School District received the |
|
|
2007 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award for large districts and a |
|
|
$100,000 cash prize; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards were |
|
|
established in 2002 to honor and thank outstanding public school |
|
|
professionals who go the extra mile each and every day to serve |
|
|
their students and their communities and who inspire others to do |
|
|
the same; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, School district nominees are narrowed down to five |
|
|
large-district finalists and three small-district finalists, which |
|
|
are judged on their commitment to student achievement through their |
|
|
implementation of innovative programs, their level of parental and |
|
|
community involvement, and their provision of professional |
|
|
development opportunities for teachers and administrators; a |
|
|
statewide selection committee conducts on-site visits and personal |
|
|
interviews with school board members, superintendents, teachers, |
|
|
principals, and community and student leaders to determine the |
|
|
winners; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the able guidance of Dr. David Simmons, |
|
|
Richardson ISD includes four high schools, eight junior high |
|
|
schools, one freshman center, 41 elementary schools, and one |
|
|
alternative-learning center and has an enrollment of more than |
|
|
35,000 students; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, In earning this prestigious accolade, Richardson |
|
|
ISD has demonstrated exceptional efforts to develop parental and |
|
|
community involvement, to support its faculty and staff, and to |
|
|
educate the next generation of leaders in the Lone Star State; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Richardson ISD on winning the H-E-B |
|
|
Excellence in Education Award for large districts and extend to all |
|
|
those associated with the district sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Richardson ISD as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
