R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Lady Friars basketball team of Bishop Lynch High
  School in Dallas won the Texas Association of Private and Parochial
  Schools Class 6A state championship, defeating Houston St. Agnes
  Academy 77-54 and bringing the school its sixth consecutive title;
  and
         WHEREAS, The 2007 state title is the team's 24th overall, and
  the championship victory extended Bishop Lynch's winning streak to
  18 games; the Lady Friars completed their outstanding season with
  an impressive record of 34 wins and six defeats; and
         WHEREAS, The team, which shot 53.1 percent from the field in
  the second half, was led by Jordan Ford's 16 points; senior Maryann
  Baker, who suffered a debilitating knee injury two weeks before the
  championship contest, entered the game in the final minute and sank
  her only shot, a three-pointer; and
         WHEREAS, Head coach Andy Zihlman and assistant coach Delaine
  Taylor schooled the Lady Friars in the importance of teamwork and
  basketball fundamentals, and the team's success is a testament to
  the hard work and dedication of the coaches and players; and
         WHEREAS, The memory of this state championship victory will
  remain with these talented student-athletes for years to come, and
  their commitment to excellence on the basketball court truly merits
  recognition; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate the Bishop Lynch High School Lady
  Friars on winning the Texas Association of Private and Parochial
  Schools Class 6A state championship and extend best wishes to the
  many individuals who contributed to this significant achievement;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
