H.R. No. 2231

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Eric Godat, a member of the baseball team at Woodrow
Wilson High School in Dallas, accomplished a rare feat by pitching
two consecutive no-hitters in April 2007; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Godat completed the first no-hitter against
district rival Spruce High School in dramatic style, deflecting a
hard-hit grounder, scooping it up, and backhanding the ball to
first baseman Jordan Pleasants to record the game's final out and
complete an 8-0 victory for the Wildcats; and
WHEREAS, The pitcher's second "no-no," which came in a
dominating 12-0, five-inning win over Samuell High School, brought
additional recognition to the talented hurler and earned him a
well-deserved place in the annals of Texas high school sports; and
WHEREAS, Pitching a single no-hitter is an accomplishment
that many pitchers never experience, and by throwing consecutive
hitless games, Eric Godat has given himself, his teammates, and the
coaches and fans of Woodrow Wilson High School a memory that will
last a lifetime; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Eric Godat on pitching two
consecutive no-hitters and extend best wishes to this gifted
student-athlete for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Eric Godat as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
