R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, The Memorial Dance and Drill Team of Memorial High
School in Victoria won the overall national title as well as several
other team honors and a host of individual awards at the American
Dance Team School International Competition held in Denton on March
30-31, 2007; and
       WHEREAS, The Memorial Dance and Drill Team, which is directed
by Debbie Jaynes and Robin Dunson, competes in the super team
category; the 70-strong squad was named international champion in
the show, hip-hop, and military categories, and the team received
the Gussie Nell Davis Award of Excellence and the Outstanding Team
Award, which is voted on by the competing teams; and
       WHEREAS, Individual honors were presented to Ms. Jaynes, who
received the Curtain Call Outstanding Director Award, and team
major Lacey Stockbauer, who was named national solo winner in the
super team category; Ms. Stockbauer and Lindsey Prichard won the
national championship in the super team duet category, and the duo
teamed with Brittney Mathiews to capture the super team trio
national championship; and
       WHEREAS, Not surprisingly, the team's performance "Seussical
the Musical" was the highest scoring dance in the entire
competition, which included 120 talented teams from Texas, Kansas,
Oklahoma, Alaska, Louisiana, Alabama, Arkansas, South Africa, and
Japan; and
       WHEREAS, Winning this prestigious competition was a total
team effort that required countless hours of hard work from the
team's directors and members as well as additional contributions
and support from parents who created the team's costumes and sets,
and this impressive demonstration of teamwork is most deserving of
special recognition; now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Memorial High School Memorial
Dance and Drill Team on its multiple achievements at the 2007
American Dance Team School International Competition and commend
the many individuals who contributed to the team's success; and, be
it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
