R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Alex Kvapil of Ballinger retired from the Ballinger |
|
|
Volunteer Fire Department on April 15, 2007, bringing to a close a |
|
|
distinguished 45-year tenure with that organization; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Chief Kvapil began as a rookie firefighter and went |
|
|
on to serve the department in the capacity of vice president, |
|
|
president, and assistant chief before assuming his present post; in |
|
|
addition, he served the Hill Country District of the State |
|
|
Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas (SFFMA) as vice |
|
|
president and president; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was elected Fireman of the Year |
|
|
by the Ballinger VFD in 1983 and 1995; he was also named Fireman of |
|
|
the Year in 1995 by the Hill Country District, and in 1997 he was |
|
|
recognized as State Firefighter of the Year by the SFFMA; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The longest-serving member of the Ballinger VFD, |
|
|
Chief Kvapil has earned the profound gratitude of his neighbors and |
|
|
fellow citizens for his consummate skill and his unwavering |
|
|
dedication to the welfare of his community; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby honor Alex Kvapil on his retirement as chief of |
|
|
the Ballinger Volunteer Fire Department and extend to him sincere |
|
|
best wishes for good fortune and happiness in all his future |
|
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Chief Kvapil as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
