R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Alex Kvapil of Ballinger retired from the Ballinger
  Volunteer Fire Department on April 15, 2007, bringing to a close a
  distinguished 45-year tenure with that organization; and
         WHEREAS, Chief Kvapil began as a rookie firefighter and went
  on to serve the department in the capacity of vice president,
  president, and assistant chief before assuming his present post; in
  addition, he served the Hill Country District of the State
  Firemen's and Fire Marshals' Association of Texas (SFFMA) as vice
  president and president; and
         WHEREAS, This esteemed Texan was elected Fireman of the Year
  by the Ballinger VFD in 1983 and 1995; he was also named Fireman of
  the Year in 1995 by the Hill Country District, and in 1997 he was
  recognized as State Firefighter of the Year by the SFFMA; and
         WHEREAS, The longest-serving member of the Ballinger VFD,
  Chief Kvapil has earned the profound gratitude of his neighbors and
  fellow citizens for his consummate skill and his unwavering
  dedication to the welfare of his community; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Alex Kvapil on his retirement as chief of
  the Ballinger Volunteer Fire Department and extend to him sincere
  best wishes for good fortune and happiness in all his future
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Chief Kvapil as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
