R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Vernon Cannamore is retiring from his position as |
|
program director of social studies for the Galena Park Independent |
|
School District, bringing to a close an exceptional tenure in |
|
education that has spanned 36 years; and |
|
WHEREAS, An alumnus of Galena Park public schools, Mr. |
|
Cannamore earned his bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State |
|
University; he taught history at Nacogdoches High School before |
|
returning to Galena Park in 1979 to teach social studies at North |
|
Shore Middle School; and |
|
WHEREAS, An outstanding educator and respected |
|
administrator, Mr. Cannamore was named director of the district's |
|
social studies program; he is a former president of the Texas State |
|
Social Studies Association and a member of the state and national |
|
councils for social studies; among his impressive achievements as |
|
social studies program director is his successful implementation of |
|
a districtwide geography bee that provides fun and excitement for |
|
its participants, as well as an important learning opportunity; and |
|
WHEREAS, Those individuals who devote their careers to |
|
education are indeed deserving of all Texans' respect and |
|
gratitude, and as Vernon Cannamore prepares to begin a new chapter |
|
in his life, he may reflect with pride on his positive and lasting |
|
contributions to area schoolchildren; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Vernon Cannamore on his retirement |
|
as program director of social studies for Galena Park Independent |
|
School District and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, |
|
be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Cannamore as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
