R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Ismael Flores, Jr., is graduating from The
  University of Texas School of Law in May 2007, and he is to be
  heartily congratulated on his latest scholastic achievement; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Debra Flores and our esteemed colleague,
  the Honorable Ismael "Kino" Flores, Sr., "Kino" Flores, Jr., had
  high aspirations even as a small child, when he was known to fill in
  for his father on the House floor; and
         WHEREAS, In 2001, he graduated in the top 10 percent of his
  class at Mission High School; popular and accomplished, he made
  history by becoming Mission's first homecoming king and earned a
  number of academic accolades, including the Mission Merit Award and
  the Eagle Excellence Award; he was also named a Tech Prep Graduate,
  a Distinguished Achievement Graduate, and a Texas Scholar; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Flores went on to attend The University of Texas
  at Austin, where he majored in government and minored in Spanish; a
  member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and the National Society of
  Collegiate Scholars, he made the National Dean's List, and in 2003,
  his 4.0 grade point average earned him the title of Distinguished
  Collegiate Scholar; he graduated with honors in May 2004; and
         WHEREAS, During his years as a law student, Mr. Flores has
  been a valued member of the Chicano/Hispanic Law Students'
  Association, serving the group as chair of the Fajita Fiesta and
  helping to establish the Dean Susana Aleman Scholarship; he also
  participated in several of the school's mock trials and served a
  federal clerkship with the Honorable Ricardo Hinojosa; and
         WHEREAS, This notable young Texan currently works for the law
  firm of Vinson & Elkins, and in his free time, he enjoys baseball,
  hunting, fishing, and breeding and racing horses; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to excellence in all of his endeavors,
  Mr. Flores may indeed reflect on his academic career with pride and
  look forward to a future bright with promise; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Ismael "Kino" Flores, Jr., on his
  graduation from The University of Texas School of Law and extend to
  him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Flores as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
