R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, During the 80th Legislative Session, Claudia Hernandez has ably served her fellow Texans as an intern in the office of State Representative Roberto Alonzo; and

WHEREAS, A senior at The University of Texas at Austin, Ms. Hernandez is currently majoring in government and Mexican American studies; she has maintained an outstanding 3.8 grade point average, and her academic success has earned her the title of Longhorn Scholar, as well as the Rose/Silverthorne Endowed Presidential Scholarship and the Roger A. Enrico Scholarship; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Hernandez has participated in a number of worthwhile endeavors while pursuing her degree, holding internships with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board and LULAC National Education Service Center and volunteering her time to benefit the NALEO U.S. Citizenship Workshop; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of her internship at the State Capitol, Ms. Hernandez has been of great assistance to Representative Alonzo's office; in addition to enhancing her knowledge of the legislative process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she has gained valuable work experience in the field of public service; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Hernandez has performed her duties as a legislative intern with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and she may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas Legislature hereby honor Claudia Hernandez for her exemplary service as a legislative intern in the office of State Representative Roberto Alonzo and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Hernandez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
