R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, During the 80th Legislative Session, Araceli Garcia
  has ably served her fellow Texans as a legislative aide in the
  office of State Representative Roberto Alonzo; and
         WHEREAS, This accomplished young woman was selected to
  participate in the 2007 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership
  Program, which is sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative
  Leadership Foundation and offers outstanding Latino and Latina
  undergraduate and graduate students from across Texas the
  opportunity to learn about the legislative process firsthand; and
         WHEREAS, A 2005 graduate of the University of
  Houston-Downtown, Ms. Garcia holds a bachelor of arts degree in
  English; committed to giving back to her community, she cofounded
  and served as president of the student organization Best Leaders
  United for Excellence; during her service with B.L.U.E., she
  coordinated volunteer activities, fund-raisers, and charity
  events, and her efforts helped the group earn the titles of Best
  Student Organization and Most Active Student Organization for 2005;
  and
         WHEREAS, She has also garnered a number of accolades for her
  academic success, including the El Paso Energy Scholarship, the
  Jefferson Davis Hispanic Alumni Scholarship, the Magic Johnson
  Foundation/Taylor Michaels Scholarship, and placement on the
  Dean's List; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure at the State Capitol,
  Ms. Garcia has been of great assistance to Representative Alonzo's
  office; in addition to enhancing her knowledge of the legislative
  process and the issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State, she
  has gained valuable work experience in the field of public service;
  and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Garcia has performed her duties as a legislative
  aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and she may indeed
  look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Araceli Garcia for her exemplary service
  as a legislative aide in the office of State Representative Roberto
  Alonzo and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success
  in all her endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
