R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |
|
of Stu Mitchell of Kerrville, who passed away on May 9, 2007, at the |
|
age of 83; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in Philadelphia on October 22, 1923, Mr. |
|
Mitchell was a graduate of Southern Methodist University, where he |
|
earned a master's degree; and |
|
WHEREAS, He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War |
|
II and attained the rank of sergeant; he subsequently enjoyed a |
|
30-year career with Allstate insurance and also worked for 27 years |
|
as a Realtor in Kerrville; before moving to the Hill Country in |
|
1979, Mr. Mitchell lived in Lincolnshire, Illinois, where he held |
|
the office of mayor; and |
|
WHEREAS, He and his wife, the former Dorothy Lovinggood, were |
|
married in Dallas on December 11, 1945; the couple had one child, |
|
Dennis Mitchell, who passed away in 1974; and |
|
WHEREAS, A valued congregant of Hunt United Methodist Church, |
|
Stu Mitchell could take well-deserved pride in a long lifetime of |
|
purposeful endeavor, and those fortunate enough to have shared in |
|
his love and friendship will forever hold him close in their hearts; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Stu Mitchell and |
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
Dorothy Mitchell; to his brother, the Reverend Herbert W. Mitchell; |
|
and to his other relatives and friends; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Stu |
|
Mitchell. |
