R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Small entrepreneurial businesses are the backbone |
|
of the free enterprise system, and so it is fitting to recognize the |
|
13th anniversary of the first keg shipped by the Saint Arnold |
|
Brewing Company in Houston on June 9, 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, Named for St. Arnold of Metz, the patron saint of |
|
brewing, the Saint Arnold brewery was founded by Brock Wagner and |
|
Kevin Bartol in 1994; the great-great-great-grandson of a brewer |
|
from Alsace, Mr. Wagner developed a love of homebrewing during his |
|
undergraduate years at Rice University; and |
|
WHEREAS, Saint Arnold Brewing Company brews 10 varieties of |
|
beer, five year-round and five seasonally, based on Mr. Wagner's |
|
recipes, and the enterprise markets its brands in Houston, Austin, |
|
Dallas, Fort Worth, and San Antonio; and |
|
WHEREAS, The oldest craft brewery in Texas, the company |
|
shipped its first keg of beer on June 9, 1994; several of its beers |
|
have received awards from the Great American Beer Festival, the |
|
World Beer Cup, the Real Ale Festival, the Colorado State Fair, and |
|
the World Beer Championships; and |
|
WHEREAS, This dynamic enterprise, with its committed staff of |
|
17, represents the Texas entrepreneurial spirit at its finest, |
|
contributing both to the economy of the Lone Star State and to the |
|
culture and profession of brewing; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Saint Arnold Brewing Company of |
|
Houston on the 13th anniversary of its first keg and extend to |
|
company owner Brock Wagner and his employees best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the company as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
