R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The family and friends of Marine Lance Corporal Luke |
|
B. Holler of Bulverde suffered an immeasurable loss with the death |
|
of this valiant soldier on November 2, 2006, at the age of 21; and |
|
WHEREAS, Assigned to the 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th |
|
Marine Division, Lance Corporal Holler was killed while serving his |
|
country in Al Anbar province, Iraq; and |
|
WHEREAS, Luke Holler cherished his faith, family, and |
|
country; despite the dangerous nature of his mission, he remained |
|
devoted to his role in the Global War on Terrorism, and his courage |
|
and swift thinking in battle are credited with saving the lives of |
|
fellow soldiers; and |
|
WHEREAS, Known for his honesty and integrity, he strove to go |
|
above and beyond in every situation; his enthusiasm, generosity, |
|
and selflessness were contagious, and his kind spirit uplifted |
|
many; and |
|
WHEREAS, Our state and nation are fortunate to have men and |
|
women whose love for their country inspires them to military |
|
service, yet the tragic death of this brave soldier is a sobering |
|
reminder of the cost of war; and |
|
WHEREAS, Luke Holler exemplified the highest ideals of the |
|
U.S. armed forces and inspired others with his fortitude, tenacity, |
|
and courage; although his death leaves a void in the lives of his |
|
loved ones, they will forever carry memories of this heroic young |
|
Texan close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Lance Corporal Luke B. |
|
Holler and extend deepest sympathy to his family: to his parents, |
|
John and Ruth Holler; to his brother, Joey; to his sisters, Rebekah, |
|
Jennifer, and Elizabeth; to his brother-in-law, Chris Upton; to his |
|
niece and nephews, Kaitlyn, Timothy, and Benjamin; to his fiancée, |
|
Jessica Coker; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Marine |
|
Lance Corporal Luke B. Holler. |
