R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors
  Association (TEPSA) has named Hector "Rocky" Valdes the District 18
  Principal of the Year for the 2006-2007 school year, and he will be
  honored by his colleagues at TEPSA's summer conference in Austin on
  June 13, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, The principal at Sam Houston Elementary School in
  Midland, Rocky Valdes holds a master's degree in education from Sul
  Ross State University in Alpine and has enjoyed a career in
  education that has spanned more than 30 years; he currently is
  president-elect of TEPSA District 18; and
         WHEREAS, Members of TEPSA's 20 statewide districts annually
  honor a colleague who has demonstrated a passionate commitment to
  meeting the educational needs of the young people of the Lone Star
  State, and Rocky Valdes is indeed deserving of this prestigious
  honor from his peers; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Rocky Valdes on his selection as
  the District 18 Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors
  Association Principal of the Year for 2006-2007 and commend him for
  his inspirational leadership and his service to our state's
  children; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Valdes as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
