R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Public works services and facilities such as water, |
|
sewerage, roadways, public buildings, and solid waste collection |
|
are essential elements of life for the citizens of Texas; and |
|
WHEREAS, The dedicated men and women who provide and maintain |
|
public works are valuable assets to the communities of the Lone Star |
|
State; their skill and professionalism assure the fundamental |
|
services that are the foundation of modern life yet are too often |
|
taken for granted; and |
|
WHEREAS, National Public Works Week, which takes place each |
|
year during the third week in May, provides an opportunity to |
|
acknowledge the achievements of the officials and employees who |
|
plan these facilities and keep them operating effectively; and |
|
WHEREAS, Begun by the American Public Works Association in |
|
1960, National Public Works Week helps focus greater public |
|
attention on the vital role that the staff of public works |
|
operations play in making our nation a safe, comfortable, and |
|
efficient place to live; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby recognize May 20 to May 26, 2007, as National |
|
Public Works Week and encourage all residents of the Lone Star State |
|
to show their support for the service of public works |
|
administrators and employees. |
