H.R. No. 2443

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, Each year, members of the San Antonio chapter of the Prairie View A&M University Alumni Association come together for the chapter's annual scholarship luncheon; and

WHEREAS, The group supports the pursuit of higher education by providing financial assistance to incoming freshmen at Prairie View A&M, the Lone Star State's second oldest public institution of higher learning; and

WHEREAS, These students may choose to seek degrees from Prairie View A&M's engineering, nursing, or education programs or in another of the university's nearly 40 undergraduate majors; and

WHEREAS, Through its fund-raising efforts, the chapter has also donated thousands of dollars to the university's music department; moreover, an annual contribution of $5,000 is made to an endowment with the National Alumni Association; and

WHEREAS, Under the leadership of its president, Dr. Milbrew Davis, the Prairie View A&M University Alumni Association's San Antonio chapter continues to have a positive effect on the lives of students, and the efforts of its members contribute greatly to Prairie View A&M University and the future of Texas; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas Legislature hereby recognize the San Antonio chapter of the Prairie View A&M University Alumni Association on the occasion of the group's annual scholarship luncheon and extend best wishes to the members of the chapter; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the San Antonio chapter of the Prairie View A&M University Alumni Association as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
