R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Each year, members of the San Antonio chapter of the |
|
|
Prairie View A&M University Alumni Association come together for |
|
|
the chapter's annual scholarship luncheon; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The group supports the pursuit of higher education |
|
|
by providing financial assistance to incoming freshmen at Prairie |
|
|
View A&M, the Lone Star State's second oldest public institution of |
|
|
higher learning; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, These students may choose to seek degrees from |
|
|
Prairie View A&M's engineering, nursing, or education programs or |
|
|
in another of the university's nearly 40 undergraduate majors; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Through its fund-raising efforts, the chapter has |
|
|
also donated thousands of dollars to the university's music |
|
|
department; moreover, an annual contribution of $5,000 is made to |
|
|
an endowment with the National Alumni Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Under the leadership of its president, Dr. Milbrew |
|
|
Davis, the Prairie View A&M University Alumni Association's San |
|
|
Antonio chapter continues to have a positive effect on the lives of |
|
|
students, and the efforts of its members contribute greatly to |
|
|
Prairie View A&M University and the future of Texas; now, |
|
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize the San Antonio chapter of the Prairie |
|
|
View A&M University Alumni Association on the occasion of the |
|
|
group's annual scholarship luncheon and extend best wishes to the |
|
|
members of the chapter; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the San Antonio chapter of the Prairie View A&M |
|
|
University Alumni Association as an expression of high regard by |
|
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
