R E S O L U T I O N
       WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, Charles and Oma Geraldine Flewellen of
Beach City celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on January 26,
2007; and
       WHEREAS, Charles William Flewellen and the former Oma
Geraldine Shoemaker were united in matrimony in 1957; they have
nurtured a close and fulfilling marriage that has been made even
richer with the addition of two sons, Tommy Joe and Randall Dee
Flewellen, a granddaughter, Dallas Kristi Flewellen, and three
grandsons, Tommy Flewellen, Jr., and Cody and Clint Flewellen; they
also have two great-grandsons, Noah and Nolan Flewellen; and
       WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Flewellen are retired after many years
of self-employment; Charlie Flewellen now enjoys gardening,
playing golf, and visiting, while Mrs. Flewellen delights in
cooking and entertaining family and friends; and
       WHEREAS, The couple are cherished congregants of Fisher Road
Baptist Church, where Mr. Flewellen serves as the music minister
and Mrs. Flewellen as the church pianist; both are involved in every
aspect of church activities; and
       WHEREAS, Having witnessed innumerable changes in the world
over the past half-century, this devoted husband and wife have
taken comfort in the reassuring strength of their love, and the
steadfast support they provide to one another has allowed them to
meet life's challenges and opportunities with grace and optimism;
now, therefore, be it
       RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Charles and Oma Geraldine
Flewellen on their golden wedding anniversary and extend to them
sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
       RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Flewellen as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
