R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Noted gospel singer and Jefferson County Constable |
|
|
Joe "Q. B." Stevenson has been featured as a singer in a regional |
|
|
commercial for Blue Bell Ice Cream; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Known as "Q. B.," for "quarterback," ever since his |
|
|
days playing football at Hebert High School, Mr. Stevenson has been |
|
|
a constable for Precinct 6 in Beaumont since his election in 1996; |
|
|
he is also known in Jefferson County for his talents as a gospel |
|
|
singer, choir director, and songwriter and for his performances in |
|
|
churches and before community groups; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, To commemorate the 100th anniversary of its |
|
|
founding, the Blue Bell Creamery commissioned a birthday |
|
|
commercial, and Mr. Stevenson was hired to appear in the spot; |
|
|
working with a choir of six young women from local colleges, Mr. |
|
|
Stevenson sang "Happy Birthday" in the commercial; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, This talented performer and dedicated public |
|
|
servant has contributed much to his community, and it is fitting |
|
|
that his voice represent Beaumont in a celebration of an iconic |
|
|
Texan brand; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Joe "Q. B." Stevenson on his |
|
|
performance in a Blue Bell Ice Cream commercial and extend to him |
|
|
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Stevenson as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
