R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Members of the Olivet Missionary Baptist Church in |
|
Houston are gathering on May 27, 2007, to pay tribute to their |
|
pastor, the Reverend Robert L. Thomas, Jr., for his three years of |
|
service to the congregation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Reverend Thomas served Olivet Missionary Baptist as |
|
youth pastor before his appointment as interim pastor in October |
|
2003; before answering a call to the ministry in 1998, he served as |
|
a deacon, chairman of deacons, Brotherhood Bible teacher, and chair |
|
of the Pastoral Search Committee; and |
|
WHEREAS, A graduate of Prairie View A&M University, this |
|
esteemed Texan is program director of business and education |
|
partnerships for the Aldine Independent School District; an active |
|
member of his community, he has been president of the Gulf Coast |
|
Career and Technology Administrators of Texas, president of the |
|
2004-2005 Leadership North Houston Alumni, and a member of the |
|
North Houston Greenspoint Chamber of Commerce Workforce and |
|
Economic Development Committees; and |
|
WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Reverend Thomas has enjoyed |
|
the support of his wife of 20 years, Tracey Brooks Thomas, and his |
|
daughters, Mariel Ruth Thomas and Taylor Dannise Thomas; and |
|
WHEREAS, Reverend Thomas is sharing his strong faith, |
|
compassion, and understanding with the members of the Olivet |
|
Missionary Baptist Church, and his guidance is a blessing to many; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the Reverend Robert L. Thomas, Jr., |
|
on his third anniversary as pastor of the Olivet Missionary Baptist |
|
Church and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be |
|
it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Reverend Thomas as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
