R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Raymond Jacob Garcia of Boy Scouts of America Troop |
|
|
No. 40 in Houston has attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and this |
|
|
accomplishment truly merits special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Receiving the Eagle Scout badge is a significant |
|
|
honor, one bestowed on only a small fraction of those who enter the |
|
|
scouting movement; in the course of meeting the rank's demanding |
|
|
criteria, Mr. Garcia earned 27 merit badges, six more than the |
|
|
requisite number, and successfully completed an Eagle Scout project |
|
|
of benefit to his community; for the latter endeavor, he built |
|
|
benches and landscaped the adult education center at St. Patrick's |
|
|
Church; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A versatile athlete, Mr. Garcia runs track and |
|
|
cross-country at St. Pius X High School and placed third in the |
|
|
1600-meter run at TAPPS district competition; he is currently |
|
|
completing his service project for St. Pius X, donating 100 hours of |
|
|
swimming instruction in behalf of the YMCA; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The son of Raymond and Gloria Garcia, this fine |
|
|
young Texan has demonstrated outstanding leadership ability |
|
|
throughout his scouting career, serving as chaplain's aide, |
|
|
assistant patrol leader, patrol leader, and troop senior patrol |
|
|
leader, as well as winning the respect and admiration of his fellow |
|
|
scouts as he worked toward the highest rank that scouting offers; |
|
|
and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Eagle Scout Garcia's dedication to excellence and |
|
|
his perseverance in the pursuit of his goals have proven him worthy |
|
|
to stand among scouting's elite, and he may indeed reflect with |
|
|
pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Raymond Garcia on achieving the |
|
|
rank of Eagle Scout and extend to him sincere best wishes for |
|
|
continued success and happiness; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
