H.R. No. 2567

R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, America's Last Patrol, Inc., advocates for
accelerated efforts by the United States government to locate
remaining POWs and MIAs from all wars and to bring them home to
  their families; and
WHEREAS, The nonprofit organization especially encourages
the governments of the United States, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia
to account for those members of the U.S. armed forces who were taken
prisoner or who were listed as missing in action during the Vietnam
  War; and
WHEREAS, America's Last Patrol also gives important support
to today's veterans in a variety of ways; for those in need, it
seeks to provide food and transportation to VA clinics and
  hospitals; and
WHEREAS, In addition to working to address veterans' physical
needs, the organization owns a ranch that it makes available to
veterans suffering from flashback depression; through sharing
their experiences with one another, veterans dealing with such
stress can often find a measure of catharsis; Cub Scouts, Boy
Scouts, and members of other school groups are also welcome to use
the ranch at no charge; and
WHEREAS, Desiring to commemorate, through a lasting
monument, the sacrifices rendered by so many members of the armed
forces, America's Last Patrol has created a Memorial Wall with
engraved plaques that pay tribute to POWs, MIAs, and deceased
  veterans; and
WHEREAS, Members of America's Last Patrol promote their
efforts to the public through their participation in city parades
and festivals and all military holidays; and
WHEREAS, To those who have known the terrible rigors of
prison camps and to those who never came home to their families and
loved ones, Americans owe an eternal debt of remembrance, and the
members of America's Last Patrol have undertaken to honor this debt
in a real and meaningful way; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
Legislature hereby commend America's Last Patrol for its steadfast
efforts in behalf of this country's POWs and MIAs and their families
and extend to its members sincere best wishes for success in their
humanitarian endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for America's Last Patrol as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
