R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family and friends mourn the loss of the Honorable
  Reynaldo M. Munoz, justice of the peace of Precinct 1 in Kleberg
  County, who died August 11, 2006, at the age of 74; and
         WHEREAS, Born on January 19, 1932, to Felix Munoz, Jr., and
  Benita Silva Munoz, Reynaldo Munoz grew up on the Chapeno Ranch in
  Starr County; during his rural, Depression-era childhood, he often
  traveled by horseback with his two brothers to their one-room
  school; and
         WHEREAS, After graduating from Rio Grande City High School in
  1951, Mr. Munoz answered his nation's call and joined the
  U.S. Army, volunteering for combat duty in Korea; as a member of the
  107th Ordnance Company, 8th Army, for three years, he served in a
  number of leadership positions and as a member of the inspector
  general's team; his service was recognized with the Korean Service
  Medal with two bronze stars, the United Nations Service Medal, and
  the National Defense Service Medal; and
         WHEREAS, Returning to Texas in 1954, Mr. Munoz married Adela
  Garza; after earning his bachelor's degree from Texas A&I
  University and his master's degree from Corpus Christi State
  University, he embarked on a 30-year tenure as a vocational arts
  instructor; over the course of his career, this dedicated and
  caring teacher worked in the Alice, Robstown, and Kingsville
  communities, mentoring his students both in and out of the
  classroom; and
         WHEREAS, After retiring from teaching in 1992, Mr. Munoz
  continued his service to others with his election as justice of the
  peace for Precinct 1 of Kleberg County in 1999; he acted faithfully
  and fairly on behalf of the citizens of the county during his eight
  years of service and was recognized for his efforts to curtail
  school truancy; and
         WHEREAS, Judge Munoz was equally generous with his time
  outside of the classroom and the courtroom and was an active member
  of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church and a participant in the
  South Texas Cursillo Movement; and
         WHEREAS, Reynaldo Munoz lived a caring and purposeful life,
  and the memory of his warmth, wisdom, and compassion will be forever
  treasured by those who knew him; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Judge Reynaldo
  M. Munoz and offer sincere condolences to his family: to his wife of
  52 years, Adela Munoz; to his sons, Ricardo Mario Munoz and his
  wife, Cynthia, Ramberto Munoz, Felix E. Munoz and his wife, Inez,
  and Rey Mario Munoz; to his daughters, Yolanda Munoz Gonzales and
  her husband, David, and Idolina Munoz Escobar and her husband,
  Roel; to his sister, Maria DeJesus Munoz Vera; to his brothers, Rene
  Munoz and his wife, Amparo, Romeo Munoz and his wife, Emma, and
  Rosendo Munoz and his wife, Maria; to his 14 grandchildren and 5
  great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
  be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Judge
  Reynaldo Munoz.
