R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Proud residents of East Tawakoni are celebrating the
  40th anniversary of the founding of their town with their annual
  Spirit of East Tawakoni Festival on June 2 and 3, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Established on June 6, 1967, on the eastern shore of
  Lake Tawakoni, East Tawakoni was the third town in Rains County;
  starting with 200 inhabitants, the city doubled in size in 1986 with
  the annexation of Blue Heron Cove; over the years it has financed
  and built a water distribution system and a sewer plant, and now has
  a police force, a volunteer fire department, and 783 registered
  voters; and
         WHEREAS, East Tawakoni provides residents and visitors alike
  with many opportunities for swimming, boating, picnicking, and duck
  hunting, and it is likewise known for its fine fishing,
  particularly of catfish, white bass, and striped bass; and
         WHEREAS, This attractive and relaxed lakeshore community
  offers the peace and comfort of rural life as well as easy access to
  the amenities of Dallas, and it is fitting to recognize this unique
  Texas town at this time; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate East Tawakoni on the 40th
  anniversary of its founding and extend to its citizens best wishes
  for a fine birthday celebration; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for East Tawakoni as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
