R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Damon Martinez has ably served his fellow Texans as
  an intern in the office of Representative Eddie Rodriguez during
  the 80th Legislative Session; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Mr. Martinez earned both his
  bachelor's degree from San Francisco State University and his
  master's degree from The University of Texas at Austin in social
  work; and
         WHEREAS, During his tenure as a legislative intern, Mr.
  Martinez assisted with health and human services legislation and
  assisted constituents with their concerns about those issues; and
         WHEREAS, Quickly learning session survival skills, Mr.
  Martinez never hesitated to speak openly and honestly to reporters
  about the whereabouts of Representative Rodriguez and
  enthusiastically showed up for every reception; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Martinez's zeal on a foster kids bill of rights
  earned him a point of order, which he may rightfully accept as a
  badge of honor, and his skill at guerilla strategizing earned him
  the nickname "Apache" from Representative Martinez Fischer;
  perhaps most importantly of all, he miraculously kept the coffee
  pot turned on for nearly the entire five months of the session; and
         WHEREAS, Through his dedication and hard work, Damon Martinez
  has ably contributed to state government while enhancing his
  knowledge of the legislative process and gaining more than a few new
  friends along the way; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Damon Martinez for his service as a
  legislative intern in the office of Representative Eddie Rodriguez
  and extend to him warmest best wishes for the future; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. Martinez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
