R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Innovative businesses are the foundation of Texas |
|
prosperity, and in that spirit Derba Mills has introduced an |
|
ecologically friendly alternative to dry cleaning through her |
|
Clothesline Cleaners chain of stores in San Antonio; and |
|
WHEREAS, Most dry cleaning is performed using |
|
petroleum-based solvents, which require special handling and |
|
disposal; in her five Clothesline Cleaner shops, Ms. Mills offers |
|
an organic alternative method that uses a solvent based on |
|
collagen, banana oil, citrus oil, and other natural components; the |
|
byproducts of this cleaning process are biodegradable and do not |
|
need to be disposed of in hazardous waste facilities; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to offering an eco-friendly method of |
|
cleaning garments, the business contributes 30 jobs to the economy |
|
of San Antonio and provides a vision of a business that combines |
|
profitability with concern for the ecological well-being of the |
|
Lone Star State; and |
|
WHEREAS, The forward-thinking and creative approach of Ms. |
|
Mills stands in the finest tradition of Texas innovation and |
|
enterprise, and it is fitting to recognize her contribution to her |
|
profession and to her community; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby commend Derba Mills for combining |
|
entrepreneurial spirit with ecological concern in Clothesline |
|
Cleaners and extend to Ms. Mills and her staff best wishes for |
|
continued success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Mills as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
