| WHEREAS, The Richardson High School robotics team won the | ||
| national championship at the 2007 Bots IQ competition held in | ||
| Miami, Florida; and | ||
| WHEREAS, Created by the producers of the popular BattleBots | ||
| television series, the Bots IQ competition showcases robots that | ||
| have been designed, built, and tested by middle-school through | ||
| college-age students; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The Richardson team and its robot, "The Blender," | ||
| adroitly outperformed the 40 other schools in the competition to | ||
| win Best Engineered and first place overall in the high school | ||
| category; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The victorious members of the Richardson team | ||
| include Matt Tavares, Jonathan Hancock, Scott Mikus, Senai Andai, | ||
| and Alex Kollaja, all of whom benefited greatly from the guidance of | ||
| magnet robotics teacher Max Morales; and | ||
| WHEREAS, The ingenuity and determination of the Richardson | ||
| High School robotics team are truly remarkable, and it is most | ||
| fitting that we commend these talented students as they celebrate | ||
| their exciting achievement; now, therefore, be it | ||
| RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas | ||
| Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Richardson High | ||
| School robotics team on their triumph at the 2007 Bots IQ | ||
| competition and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued | ||
| success; and, be it further | ||
| RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be | ||
| prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas | ||
| House of Representatives. | ||
