R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The Richardson High School robotics team won the |
|
national championship at the 2007 Bots IQ competition held in |
|
Miami, Florida; and |
|
WHEREAS, Created by the producers of the popular BattleBots |
|
television series, the Bots IQ competition showcases robots that |
|
have been designed, built, and tested by middle-school through |
|
college-age students; and |
|
WHEREAS, The Richardson team and its robot, "The Blender," |
|
adroitly outperformed the 40 other schools in the competition to |
|
win Best Engineered and first place overall in the high school |
|
category; and |
|
WHEREAS, The victorious members of the Richardson team |
|
include Matt Tavares, Jonathan Hancock, Scott Mikus, Senai Andai, |
|
and Alex Kollaja, all of whom benefited greatly from the guidance of |
|
magnet robotics teacher Max Morales; and |
|
WHEREAS, The ingenuity and determination of the Richardson |
|
High School robotics team are truly remarkable, and it is most |
|
fitting that we commend these talented students as they celebrate |
|
their exciting achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Richardson High |
|
School robotics team on their triumph at the 2007 Bots IQ |
|
competition and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued |
|
success; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
