  H.R. No. 2636

R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Stacie McClinton of Lewisville donated a kidney to
  her husband, Clay McClinton, on February 24, 2004, and today the
  couple encourage others to give the gift of life through organ
  donation; and
         WHEREAS, Diagnosed with kidney disease shortly before they
  married in 2000, Mr. McClinton subsequently required dialysis for
  an 18-month period; the pair began to research transplant options
  and were delighted to discover that Mrs. McClinton was a close match
  for her husband; and
         WHEREAS, Among the things the McClintons learned during their
  experience and are eager to share with others are that transplants
  need not be between people of the same race, that a transplant
  involving a live donor is most ideal for long-term success, and that
  the procedure is performed by laparoscopic surgery, which is less
  invasive than traditional surgery, resulting in shorter hospital
  stays and recovery time for both donor and recipient; and
         WHEREAS, The parents of a beloved daughter, Ciarra, Mr. and
  Mrs. McClinton are grateful for their successful outcome and hope
  to inspire others with their story, and their efforts to promote
  organ donation may indeed help extend the life of a fellow Texan;
  now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Stacie McClinton for her kidney donation
  to her husband, Clay McClinton, and commend both Mr. and Mrs.
  McClinton for their ongoing efforts to encourage organ donation;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. McClinton as an expression of high regard
  by the Texas House of Representatives.
