R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Stacie McClinton of Lewisville donated a kidney to |
|
her husband, Clay McClinton, on February 24, 2004, and today the |
|
couple encourage others to give the gift of life through organ |
|
donation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Diagnosed with kidney disease shortly before they |
|
married in 2000, Mr. McClinton subsequently required dialysis for |
|
an 18-month period; the pair began to research transplant options |
|
and were delighted to discover that Mrs. McClinton was a close match |
|
for her husband; and |
|
WHEREAS, Among the things the McClintons learned during their |
|
experience and are eager to share with others are that transplants |
|
need not be between people of the same race, that a transplant |
|
involving a live donor is most ideal for long-term success, and that |
|
the procedure is performed by laparoscopic surgery, which is less |
|
invasive than traditional surgery, resulting in shorter hospital |
|
stays and recovery time for both donor and recipient; and |
|
WHEREAS, The parents of a beloved daughter, Ciarra, Mr. and |
|
Mrs. McClinton are grateful for their successful outcome and hope |
|
to inspire others with their story, and their efforts to promote |
|
organ donation may indeed help extend the life of a fellow Texan; |
|
now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Stacie McClinton for her kidney donation |
|
to her husband, Clay McClinton, and commend both Mr. and Mrs. |
|
McClinton for their ongoing efforts to encourage organ donation; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. McClinton as an expression of high regard |
|
by the Texas House of Representatives. |
