R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Family, friends, and colleagues are mourning the
  untimely passing of Jim Wilson of Granite Shoals, who was the former
  county sheriff of Williamson County; and
         WHEREAS, The son of Houghton H. and Lona Mae Wilson, Mr.
  Wilson served his nation in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, in
  the A/501st Aviation Battalion, 71st Assault Helicopter Company in
  Chu Lai; and
         WHEREAS, Over the course of his 30-year career in law
  enforcement, Mr. Wilson worked as a jailer, investigator, deputy,
  and chief deputy for the Williamson County Sheriff's Department,
  investigating and resolving cases involving drug networks, rape,
  murder, and theft; subsequently, he served four terms as the
  constable of Precinct 2 of Williamson County; and
         WHEREAS, Certified as a master peace officer, this dedicated
  law enforcement professional served as Williamson County sheriff in
  2004; and
         WHEREAS, Committed to his community as well as to his
  profession, Sheriff Wilson coached basketball, community football,
  T-ball, and Little League baseball in Liberty Hill; he was a charter
  member of the Liberty Hill VFW Post 8200 and Past Master of the
  Leander Masonic Lodge; his contributions were recognized by the
  Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Texas with the Law Officer of
  the Year Award and by the Cedar Park VFW with a Civic Leader award;
  and
         WHEREAS, A devoted husband and father, Sheriff Wilson will be
  remembered as a man who loved serving his community, and through his
  actions as a soldier and as a law enforcement officer, he
  contributed immeasurably to his state and nation; now, therefore,
  be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Jim Wilson of
  Granite Shoals and offer sincere condolences to the members of his
  family: to his wife, Patches Wilson; to his sons, Josh Wilson,
  Brandon Wilson, and Mark Dishman; to his sisters, Donna Childress
  and Sue Bagby and her husband, Dale; to his two granddaughters and
  two grandsons; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be
  it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jim Wilson.
