R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Roel M. Villarreal retired from his position as the |
|
director of financial aid for Texas A&M University-Kingsville on |
|
January 31, 2007, bringing to a close an outstanding tenure with the |
|
institution that spanned decades; and |
|
WHEREAS, In his pivotal role, Mr. Villarreal was responsible |
|
for the administration of all federal and state financial aid funds |
|
allocated to students, and his impressive performance earned him |
|
the lasting respect and admiration of his colleagues; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Villarreal is a graduate of the university, |
|
having earned both his bachelor's and his master's degrees; before |
|
becoming director he had been a counselor for the Upward Bound |
|
Program, as well as financial aid counselor, assistant director, |
|
associate director, and interim director; and |
|
WHEREAS, In addition to providing exceptional service to the |
|
university and its students, this U.S. Army veteran has served as |
|
chairman of the Kingsville Housing Authority and as a member of the |
|
boards of the Kingsville Zoning and Planning Commission, JTPA, and |
|
Workforce Commission; he has also been an active member of LULAC and |
|
the Knights of Columbus, Council 2623; and |
|
WHEREAS, Roel Villarreal may reflect with pride on his |
|
accomplished career and know that his years of meaningful service |
|
have made a difference to many; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Roel M. Villarreal on his |
|
retirement as director of financial aid for Texas A&M |
|
University-Kingsville and extend to him best wishes for the future; |
|
and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. Villarreal as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
