R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The third anniversary of the establishment of the |
|
|
Welcome Home a Hero program at DFW International Airport is being |
|
|
celebrated on June 12, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Initiated in 2004, Welcome Home a Hero brings |
|
|
together volunteers from corporations, youth groups, schools, |
|
|
civic organizations, and churches; lining the terminal, these |
|
|
patriotic men and women offer a Texas-size greeting to soldiers |
|
|
traveling home through DFW from Iraq or Afghanistan; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Welcome Home a Hero has grown into one of the largest |
|
|
initiatives of its kind, and it has been recognized with the |
|
|
prestigious George Washington Honor Medal, presented by the |
|
|
Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Demonstrating to our men and women in uniform the |
|
|
gratitude felt by all Americans, the DFW International Airport and |
|
|
the North Texas Commission have undertaken a worthwhile endeavor |
|
|
that truly merits special commendation; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the third anniversary of the |
|
|
founding of Welcome Home a Hero and commend all those who have |
|
|
shared their time with this important program. |
