R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
  by a great and enduring love, Boyd and Nan Mercer of Hurst
  celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 16, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Mercer and the former Nan Bull were united in
  matrimony in 1947; they have nurtured a close and fulfilling
  marriage that has been made even richer with the addition of their
  children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth
  and a navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Hurst worked for the U.S.
  Postal Service for 34 years before retiring; Mrs. Hurst, a native of
  El Dorado, has shared her time and talents as a homemaker, providing
  a warm and nurturing environment for her husband and children; and
         WHEREAS, Having witnessed innumberable changes in the world
  over the past six decades, this devoted husband and wife have taken
  comfort in the reassuring strength of their love, and the steadfast
  support they provide to one another has allowed them to meet life's
  challenges and opportunities with grace and optimism; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Boyd and Nan Mercer on the joyous
  occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them best
  wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Mercer as an expression of high regard by
  the Texas House of Representatives.
