R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Linda Isela Figueroa has been named valedictorian of |
|
|
the Class of 2007 at Edinburg High School, and for achieving this |
|
|
significant honor, she indeed merits special recognition; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only |
|
|
intellect and aptitude, but four years of dedication to the highest |
|
|
academic standards; the student who garners this coveted |
|
|
distinction must demonstrate a thorough understanding of a wide |
|
|
range of subjects, from math and science to language arts and social |
|
|
studies, yet the rewards of the countless hours of study and |
|
|
preparation are myriad; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Dr. Leo Figueroa and |
|
|
Martha Figueroa, Ms. Figueroa has excelled in both academics and |
|
|
extracurricular activities; she has been a member of a number of |
|
|
organizations, including the student council, Health Occupations |
|
|
Students of America, and the National Honor Society and has served |
|
|
as senior class treasurer; honored with a host of scholarships and |
|
|
accepted to a number of universities, she will attend The |
|
|
University of Texas--Pan American and Baylor College of Medicine |
|
|
before pursuing a career as a surgeon; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Figueroa has earned the respect and admiration |
|
|
of her teachers and classmates at Edinburg High School, and her |
|
|
exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to |
|
|
excellence are exemplary; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Linda Isela Figueroa on being named |
|
|
the 2007 valedictorian for Edinburg High School and extend to her |
|
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for Ms. Figueroa as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
