R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The second annual Texas Cook 'Em barbecue cook-off |
|
|
is taking place in Edinburg on July 6 and July 7, 2007; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the City of Edinburg, the Edinburg |
|
|
Chamber of Commerce, the Edinburg Visitors Bureau, and the Edinburg |
|
|
Economic Development Corporation, this outstanding Texas |
|
|
competition has become known for its fine lineup of talented cooks |
|
|
who go head-to-head in an exciting and delicious display of |
|
|
barbecue expertise; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The 2007 Texas Cook 'Em event includes arts and |
|
|
crafts, music, and many fun activities in addition to the barbecue |
|
|
competition, which is sanctioned by the International Barbeque |
|
|
Cookers Association; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, With an estimated 7,000 people attending the 2006 |
|
|
debut, the Texas Cook 'Em barbecue cook-off established itself as a |
|
|
popular gathering that draws visitors from around the state and |
|
|
beyond, and it is a pleasure to salute this South Texas celebration |
|
|
of good times and good eating; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby recognize the second annual Texas Cook 'Em |
|
|
barbecue cook-off in Edinburg and extend best wishes to the |
|
|
sponsors, participants, and attendees for a successful and |
|
|
enjoyable event; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the organizers as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
