R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The members of the Cottonwood Baptist Church are
  dedicating the Ruth Hellums Homecoming Pavilion on June 10, 2007,
  during the church's 71st annual homecoming festivities, and this
  event provides an ideal opportunity to recognize Mrs. Hellums for
  her outstanding service to her congregation and community; and
         WHEREAS, A native of Cottonwood, the former Ruth Lasater was
  born in 1913 and has been an active member of her church throughout
  her life; and
         WHEREAS, Mrs. Hellums is a retired teacher who taught in
  Cottonwood and the Scurry-Rosser school district; she married
  William Hellums in Kaufman, and she has been blessed with two
  children and six grandchildren; and
         WHEREAS, Ruth Hellums is a joy and inspiration to all who are
  privileged to know her, and she truly merits special commendation
  for her years of meaningful service to others; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Ruth Hellums on the dedication of
  the Ruth Hellums Homecoming Pavilion at the Cottonwood Baptist
  Church and honor her for her contributions to her church and her
  community; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Mrs. Hellums as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
