R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Rio Grande Valley Partnership, a chamber of
  commerce for Cameron, Hidalgo, Starr, and Willacy Counties, unites
  a distinguished roster of members devoted to the greater good and
  overall advancement of the entire region; and
         WHEREAS, Since 1944, the Rio Grande Valley Partnership has
  endeavored to foster relationships and coordinate programs that
  further economic development in South Texas, and the organization
  today continues to build on its 60-year legacy of encouraging and
  promoting business opportunities in the Valley; and
         WHEREAS, Administered by only seven staff members, the
  partnership executes a robust program that cultivates progress and
  prosperity across its four counties, throughout the State of Texas,
  and into the region's international neighbor, the State of
  Tamaulipas, Mexico; and
         WHEREAS, The staff, which currently includes Fawn
  Foudray-Golich, Angelica Plascencia, Veronica Salazar, Bill
  Summers, Manuela Valdez, Patricia Villasenor, and Elizabeth
  Walker, also works with the partnership in organizing and
  sponsoring the Rio Grande Valley Legislative Tour for state
  representatives and senators at the beginning of each session; and
         WHEREAS, Mr. Summers, who serves as president and chief
  executive officer, has been affiliated with the Rio Grande Valley
  Partnership since December 1, 1987, and his hard work and
  commitment have been vital to the group's outstanding performance
  over the past two decades; and
         WHEREAS, The efforts of these dedicated employees not only
  benefit area businesses and industries but also enhance the quality
  of life for all Rio Grande Valley residents, and it is a pleasure to
  honor this notable organization at this time; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize the members, board of directors, and
  staff of the Rio Grande Valley Partnership and extend to the
  organization best wishes for continued success and achievement;
  and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Rio Grande Valley Partnership as an expression of
  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
