R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, During the 80th Legislative Session, Lauren
  Elizabeth Owens has ably served her fellow Texans as an intern with
  the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence; and
         WHEREAS, Valedictorian of the Sulphur Springs High School
  Class of 2004, Ms. Owens is currently a junior at The University of
  Texas at Austin, where she is majoring in government and minoring in
  history; and
         WHEREAS, Her academic success has earned her a number of
  accolades; inducted into Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society in 2005, she
  has been named a College Scholar, received University Honors for
  six consecutive semesters, and earned the Terry Foundation
  Scholarship; and
         WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Dale and Marci Owens,
  this notable young Texan enjoys participation in the Texas Lassos,
  a service and spirit organization at UT; she plans to attend law
  school after her expected 2008 graduation; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Owens has been of great assistance to the House
  Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence during the course of her
  internship at the State Capitol; in addition to enhancing her
  knowledge of the legislative process and the issues facing citizens
  of the Lone Star State, she has gained valuable work experience in
  the field of public service; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Owens has performed her duties with skill,
  perseverance, and dedication, and she may indeed look forward to a
  rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Lauren Owens for her exemplary service as
  an intern with the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence and
  extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her
  endeavors; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Owens as an expression of high regard by the Texas
  House of Representatives.
