R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, During the 80th Legislative Session, Lauren |
|
Elizabeth Owens has ably served her fellow Texans as an intern with |
|
the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence; and |
|
WHEREAS, Valedictorian of the Sulphur Springs High School |
|
Class of 2004, Ms. Owens is currently a junior at The University of |
|
Texas at Austin, where she is majoring in government and minoring in |
|
history; and |
|
WHEREAS, Her academic success has earned her a number of |
|
accolades; inducted into Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society in 2005, she |
|
has been named a College Scholar, received University Honors for |
|
six consecutive semesters, and earned the Terry Foundation |
|
Scholarship; and |
|
WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Dale and Marci Owens, |
|
this notable young Texan enjoys participation in the Texas Lassos, |
|
a service and spirit organization at UT; she plans to attend law |
|
school after her expected 2008 graduation; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Owens has been of great assistance to the House |
|
Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence during the course of her |
|
internship at the State Capitol; in addition to enhancing her |
|
knowledge of the legislative process and the issues facing citizens |
|
of the Lone Star State, she has gained valuable work experience in |
|
the field of public service; and |
|
WHEREAS, Ms. Owens has performed her duties with skill, |
|
perseverance, and dedication, and she may indeed look forward to a |
|
rewarding future; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby honor Lauren Owens for her exemplary service as |
|
an intern with the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence and |
|
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her |
|
endeavors; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Ms. Owens as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
House of Representatives. |
