R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The 65th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |
|
cause for celebration, and Patricia Collins of Houston marked this |
|
special event in her life on May 2, 2007; and |
|
WHEREAS, Born in 1942 to Robert and Lessie Mae Davs, Patsy |
|
Collins grew up attending Greater Zion Missionary Baptist Church, |
|
where she was an active member of the congregation's Sunday school, |
|
the Acapella and Melodette Choirs, and the Junior Nurses and Junior |
|
Usher Boards; she graduated from Jack Yates High School and |
|
furthered her education at Texas Southern University and at nursing |
|
school; and |
|
WHEREAS, Through the years, Mrs. Collins has been a loving |
|
mother to her five children, giving generously of her time as a band |
|
booster, PTO member, and school trip chaperone; the devoted wife |
|
and traveling companion of Dr. Joseph Collins, whom she married in |
|
2002, this "Diva Grandma," as she is fondly regarded, has continued |
|
to demonstrate that same enthusiastic support as a grandmother, |
|
attending all the school and extracurricular activities of her |
|
grandchildren and step-grandchildren; and |
|
WHEREAS, A member of the Lilly Grove Baptist Church and the |
|
Urban League Ladies Guild, this gregarious and outgoing woman is a |
|
joy and inspiration to all who know her, and it is a pleasure to |
|
recognize her on 65 years of life well lived; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Patricia Collins on her 65th |
|
birthday and extend to her best wishes for the future; and, be it |
|
further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mrs. Collins as an expression of high regard by the |
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
