R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The passing of George Alvin Otto of Manvel on May 18,
  2007, at the age of 76, deeply saddened the family and friends of
  this fine man; and
         WHEREAS, The son of George E. and Henrietta Otto, George
  Alvin Otto came to Manvel in 1980 and soon became an active and
  respected civic leader in Brazoria County; notably, he served as an
  election judge and Republican Party precinct chair of Precinct 40;
  and
         WHEREAS, Through the years, Mr. Otto played an integral part
  in promoting the democratic process in Brazoria County, helping to
  guarantee open and fair participation in the electoral process and
  working to build a strong community, state, and nation; and
         WHEREAS, A devoted husband and family man, Mr. Otto enjoyed
  many happy times and cherished memories with his wife, Martha,
  during their 45 years of marriage, and she shared his passion and
  commitment for public service and his desire to make life better for
  future generations; and
         WHEREAS, George Alvin Otto was a man of generosity and
  integrity, and although he is profoundly missed by all who knew him,
  he has left a legacy of good works and kindness that will be
  remembered for years to come; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of George Alvin Otto and
  extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife,
  Martha Otto; to his daughters, Cappie Carpenter and her husband,
  Earl Carpenter, Jr., and Connie Ethridge and her husband, Hugh
  Ethridge; to his grandchildren, Steven and Amy Gay and Thomas,
  Michael, and Catie Ethridge; to his six great-grandchildren; and to
  his other relatives and many friends; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
  Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of George
  Alvin Otto.
