R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, Those Texans who work daily to uphold the proud |
|
traditions of family farming are an indispensable asset to the |
|
people of the Lone Star State; and |
|
WHEREAS, Robert Hahn and his wife, Jimmie, of McLennan County |
|
are two such individuals, and their outstanding contributions as |
|
family farmers have been justly recognized with the acceptance of |
|
their agricultural operation, Bull Hide Creek Farms, into the Texas |
|
Department of Agriculture Family Land Heritage Program; and |
|
WHEREAS, Created to honor farms and ranches that have been in |
|
continuous agricultural operation by the same family for a century |
|
or more, the program draws welcome attention to the rich and vibrant |
|
history of Texas agriculture; and |
|
WHEREAS, Bull Hide Creek Farms dates to 1902, when Emil Hahn |
|
acquired 202.25 acres of land; his wife Auguste took over |
|
operations when he died in 1909, and she was able to keep the farm |
|
profitable during the Great Depression; through the years, the |
|
family members have grown cotton, hay, and corn and raised cattle |
|
and mules; today, Mr. and Mrs. Hahn continue to raise cattle and |
|
grow corn, and they have introduced the production of wheat and |
|
soybeans; and |
|
WHEREAS, In continuing to work their family farm, the Hahns |
|
have carried on their family's significant legacy, and it is indeed |
|
fitting to honor this worthwhile endeavor; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Robert and Jimmie Hahn on the |
|
induction of Bull Hide Creek Farms into the Texas Department of |
|
Agriculture Family Land Heritage Program and extend to them sincere |
|
best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Hahn as an expression of high regard by |
|
the Texas House of Representatives. |
