R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Tejano Genealogy Society of Austin is hosting
  the 28th annual Texas Hispanic Genealogy Conference from September
  13 to 16, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, The first and oldest annual statewide conference of
  Hispanic genealogy in Texas, the Texas Hispanic Genealogy
  Conference provides an opportunity for groups from across the state
  to celebrate Tejano heritage; and
         WHEREAS, In addition to representing and celebrating the
  original founding families of Texas, attendees exchange
  information and share methodologies on genealogy, enabling Texas
  families to more effectively trace their roots; and
         WHEREAS, The first statewide conference took place in Austin
  in 1979 and was sponsored by Sociedad Genealogica of Austin, Inc.;
  since that inaugural gathering, the conference has met annually in
  a different city each year; and
         WHEREAS, Celebrating family heritage is a time-honored
  tradition that is essential to creating a sense of community among
  the people of an area, and the Texas Hispanic Genealogy Conference
  helps to realize this important goal; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby recognize the 2007 Texas Hispanic Genealogy
  Conference and extend best wishes to the organizers and
  participants for a successful and memorable event; and, be it
  further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for the Tejano Genealogy Society of Austin as an
  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
