R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is pleased to
  recognize Brooke Lierman for her outstanding work in the office of
  Senator Rodney Ellis; and
         WHEREAS, Ms. Lierman has been a participant in the Texas
  Legislative Internship Program administered by the Mickey Leland
  Center on World Hunger and Peace at Texas Southern University; and
         WHEREAS, Established in 1990, this excellent internship
  program provides a unique opportunity for students from Texas
  colleges and universities to serve as interns in the Texas
  Legislature, in state agencies, and in local government offices;
  students receive academic credit for participating in the program,
  which combines study and research with supervised practical
  training; Senator Ellis serves as a program advisor, and the
  senator's office assists with coordinating the on-site activities;
  and
         WHEREAS, Raised in Washington, D.C., Ms. Lierman received her
  bachelor's degree from Dartmouth University and is currently
  studying law at The University of Texas at Austin; she was formerly
  affiliated with the Center for American Progress and has worked on
  the political campaigns of Paul Wellstone and Howard Dean and the
  John Kerry/John Edwards national ticket; in addition, she has
  helped launch several organizations, including Emerging
  Progressives and a nonprofit mentoring effort based in Vermont
  known as the DREAM Program; and
         WHEREAS, During her tenure as an intern, Ms. Lierman has
  obtained firsthand knowledge of the governmental process and gained
  work experience in a political environment, as well as developed
  insight into the important issues facing our communities and our
  state; and
         WHEREAS, Diligent, resourceful, and talented, Ms. Lierman
  has skillfully handled the multifaceted duties of the senator's
  office and ably assisted with the needs of constituents; now,
  therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby commend Brooke Lierman for her tireless
  dedication and exemplary work as a participant in the Texas
  Legislative Internship Program and extend to her sincere best
  wishes for the future; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Lierman as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
