R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Distinguished professor and administrator Dr. Dale
  A. Lunsford will become the sixth president of LeTourneau
  University in Longview on July 1, 2007; and
         WHEREAS, A graduate of the University of Tulsa, where he
  earned his bachelor's degree in 1982 and his master's degree in
  1985, Dale Lunsford received a doctorate in business administration
  from Oklahoma State University in 1989; and
         WHEREAS, From 1987 until 1999, he taught at the University of
  Tulsa, reaching the rank of associate professor of marketing and
  twice recognized as professor of the year; Dr. Lunsford was a
  visiting scholar at the McCombs School of Business at The
  University of Texas at Austin in 1999 and since 2000 has been an
  associate professor of marketing at UT Tyler; he has been widely
  published in professional journals of marketing and business; and
         WHEREAS, In 2002, Dr. Lunsford was appointed vice president
  for Student Affairs and External Relations at UT Tyler; responsible
  for student affairs, public information and marketing, and
  government relations, he has also overseen the construction of a
  new student center, a student health clinic, and other buildings;
  his efforts were instrumental in raising the school's enrollment as
  well as increasing state and capital funding; and
         WHEREAS, As ordained deacon, Dr. Lunsford is an active member
  of Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler, where he has played a
  prominent role in international missions; a loving husband to his
  wife, Marsha, and a proud father to his daughters Rachel and Hannah,
  Dr. Lunsford will no doubt appreciate their support as he takes on
  this new role; and
         WHEREAS, LeTourneau University is an interdenominational
  Christian university, educating a future generation of teachers,
  scientists, and engineers; taking over from the 21-year tenure of
  Dr. Alvin O. Austin, Dr. Lunsford is uniquely qualified to build on
  this institution's tradition of academic excellence and community
  service; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas
  Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Dale A. Lunsford on being named
  the sixth president of LeTourneau University and extend best wishes
  to him for a successful tenure; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Dr. Lunsford as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
