R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
WHEREAS, The citizens of Henderson County and the members of |
|
the Henderson County Sheriff's Department lost a great friend and |
|
public servant when Deputy Sheriff Tony Price Ogburn died in the |
|
line of duty on May 17, 2007, at the age of 61; and |
|
WHEREAS, Deputy Ogburn was killed while investigating a |
|
domestic disturbance, and his tragic death came on the same day that |
|
he had joined with fellow officers to honor fallen police personnel |
|
as part of the annual observance of National Peace Officers Month; |
|
and |
|
WHEREAS, A resident of Log Cabin, Tony Ogburn was born in |
|
Norfolk, Virginia, and served in the U.S. Army before pursuing a |
|
career in radio and music production; he was employed as a disc |
|
jockey and music director at radio stations in Dallas, Los Angeles, |
|
Arlington, and Chicago; and |
|
WHEREAS, Mr. Ogburn worked as a supervisor with Dallas Area |
|
Rapid Transit before relocating to Henderson County; a five-year |
|
veteran of the Henderson County Sheriff's Department, he also |
|
served with the Malakoff Police Department, and he was a |
|
32nd-degree Mason; and |
|
WHEREAS, Tony Price Ogburn was admired and respected by the |
|
members of Henderson County's close-knit law enforcement |
|
community; he was a dedicated professional who endeavored to make a |
|
positive difference in the lives of his fellow citizens, and he will |
|
be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known |
|
him; now, therefore, be it |
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Tony Price Ogburn and |
|
extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, |
|
Pat Ogburn; to his sons, Ralph L. Ogburn and his wife, Shaunda, and |
|
Tony Ogburn; to his daughters, Mary "Peaches" Wilson and her |
|
husband, John, and Deborah Ogburn; to his 14 grandchildren; and to |
|
the other relatives, friends, and fellow officers of this esteemed |
|
law enforcement professional; and, be it further |
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|
Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Deputy |
|
Sheriff Tony Price Ogburn. |
