R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The Medina Valley High School boys' golf team won |
|
|
the 2007 University Interscholastic League Class 3A State Golf |
|
|
Championship with a dominating performance in the two-day event |
|
|
held on May 10 and 11; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Coach Randy Mann, who has been at the helm of the |
|
|
Medina Valley golf program for seven years, watched proudly as his |
|
|
young charges captured the district and regional championships on |
|
|
their way to winning the team's first state championship by an |
|
|
impressive margin of nine strokes; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, The Panthers led by seven strokes at the end of the |
|
|
first day, posting a solid score of 292, and the team finished day |
|
|
two at 304 to card a cumulative total of 596; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Freshman Curtis Reed led the team with a two-day |
|
|
total of 145 and claimed the individual title after winning with a |
|
|
birdie on the fifth playoff hole; teammates Ben Chambers, Josh |
|
|
Hart, and Stanton Tondre tallied two-day totals of 151 to tie for |
|
|
fourth place, while Kyle Emerson finished one stroke back in a |
|
|
fifth-place tie; alternate Randall Rodgers also made vital |
|
|
contributions to the team's success throughout the season; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Winning a state championship is the ultimate |
|
|
achievement for high school athletes and represents the culmination |
|
|
of countless hours of hard work and preparation, and the memory of |
|
|
this significant achievement will remain with these young men for |
|
|
years to come; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 80th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby congratulate Coach Randy Mann and the Medina |
|
|
Valley High School boys' golf team on winning the 2007 UIL Class 3A |
|
|
State Golf Championship and extend sincere best wishes to the team |
|
|
for continued success; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas |
|
|
House of Representatives. |
